General Meaning of Tarot Cards
Deciphering the general meaning of tarot cards is largely based upon personal view of the cards. What you feel when you see the cards will help you decide if their meanings are positive or negative. This article is going to give the general meaning of tarot cards contained in the Major Arcana.
The Fool: This is sometimes known as The Spirit of the Aether. If the card is upright it usually means a beginning—this journey can be spiritual, physical or even mental. It could also be the beginning of a new life cycle. It also symbolizes innocence and spontaneity. If you see this card it means that there are important decisions that you need to make. If the card is reversed or “ill dignified”, it means to take caution against any rash decisions or impulsive choices. It could also symbolize the playing away of creative energy. The reversed fool warns against commitments.
The Magician: Sometimes this card is also called the Magnus of Power. If the card is upright it can mean the mastering of the material world. It can also signify self discipline, the willingness to take a risk and a mastery of creative action. This card tells the viewer that she has the power to recognize her own potential and wit. If the card is reversed of “ill dignified” it is seen as a symbol of confusion in the viewer's life. It illustrates the lack of ability to make definite choices. It also shows that the viewer is having trouble using their talents or time wisely, that they aren't feeling inspired or energetic and that they probably have a bad self image.
The High Priestess: This card is also known as the Priestess of the Silver Star. If it is upright, it means wisdom, intuition, secret knowledge and signifies the male personality's feminine side. It shows that there is still something waiting to be revealed to the viewer and that they must be patient while they wait for the revelation. If the card is reversed, it means that the personal harmony of a person's life has been disturbed and that she is experiencing problems because she didn't think things through. It can also symbolize the suppression of the female intuition that is present in both women and men and that things are probably not what they seem to be.
These are just three of the cards in the Major Arcana. There are many more. These three descriptions, however, can give you an idea of how in depth a tarot reading can be and that knowing the general meaning of tarot cards involves a little bit more than simple memorization. Understanding the general meaning of tarot cards also involves the study of different tarot cards arrangements. Where the card is located in the reading of tarot cards can greatly influence the general meaning of the tarot card. Each card can have several meanings depending on how it is positioned and where in the layout it is placed.

Meaning of Each Tarot Card Tip #1
Tarot is an intuitive art, but it is not fortune telling. Tarot will not tell you anything that you do not already know, and it cannot predict the future. Instead tarot sheds insight on issues that you might have been avoiding and helps point you in the direction of answers that you have been looking for.

Meaning of Each Tarot Card Tip #2
Choosing a tarot deck is not an easy process. If you simply choose the cheapest deck or the first deck of tarot cards that crosses your path, the cards probably will not work for you. Use your intuition to decide which tarot cards are right for you. You will feel a connection that you cannot explain when you first set hands on the deck of tarot cards that you are meant to have.

Meaning of Each Tarot Card Tip #3
The history of tarot cards is long and varied and full of myths that have mostly been debunked. The modern version of tarot cards are based upon various forms of playing cards that date back for a few hundred years.
